A woman based in Delhi shared her 'nightmarish experience' on social media recently where the Ola cab she was travelling in Haryana's Gurugram when the car was stopped at a relatively deserted place on the instruction of few men on the road. After asking the driver about it, he told her that his payment instalment is due and the men were stopping to ask for money.

The woman on her post also mentioned that she used the SOS button on the Ola App but it did not work so she had to get down from the car and 'run for her life'.

After losing to India 8-1 in their last encounter, Malaysia were desperate for a win, and showed immense character to fight it out against Japan after they were a goal down after the first half.

The woman shared her ordeal on LinkedIn as she hoped that this incident will raise awareness about safety of passengers, especially women who use cab services often.

The woman identified as Shazia A, in per post said that the incident happened on December 20 around 1:30 pm and the vehicle was near National Media Centre after crossing the toll.

She said, "After crossing the toll, the driver inexplicably slowed down the cab. When I asked for the reason, he did not respond. Shortly after, I noticed two men ahead of the cab, gesturing for the driver to pull over to the left. Shockingly, the driver complied, parking the car as per their instructions."

When she asked the driver why he slowed down the car, the driver reportedly ignored her and then the situation escalated as two more men on a bike approached the cab.

Further questioning the driver about it, the man told her "Meri kist pending hai" (my installment is due). She then said that it "left me terrified. I responded that his personal matters were not my concern and insisted he continue the trip. Instead, the men began to approach the cab, and the driver appeared complicit in their actions."

The woman continued to explain what she did next to leave the situation, she said, "Feeling unsafe, I opened the right-side door and ran for my life. It was an extremely traumatic experience, and I cannot emphasize enough how terrified I felt."

OLA SOS Button Did Not Work

The woman then added, "To make matters worse, when I tried to use the SOS button on the Ola app, it did not work."

The post concluded saying, “I raised a complaint with Olarich 888, but it has now been over 24 hours, and I have not received any response. This lack of accountability and urgency from Ola’s team is both shocking and deeply disappointing. Passenger safety is not just a feature—it’s a fundamental responsibility."
