A global powerhouse – that’s how fans of global girl group XG describe them, and they are currently proving this right as they achieved yet another career milestone. 

Rising global girl group XG debuted at No. 175 on the Billboard 200 chart with their latest mini-album, “AWE.”

This marks their first appearance on the most coveted chart. The said album also soared to No. 1 on the Heatseekers Albums chart.

This achievement places XG in the ranks of Japanese artists making waves on the Billboard charts.

It is a significant follow-up to the success of Joe Hisaishi’s “A Symphonic Celebration – Music from the Studio Ghibli Films of Hayao Miyazaki” in 2023 and Babymetal’s Metal Galaxy in 2019.

Released in Japan on Nov. 8 and in the US on Dec. 6, “AWE” has been a chart-topping success across various platforms.

Internationally, it climbed to No. 12 on the Apple Music Worldwide Album Chart (daily), entered the Top 200 in 48 countries and secured the No. 2 spot on the iTunes Top 100 Pop Albums (worldwide). 

Meanwhile, the lead single, “Howling,” became a YouTube and TikTok sensation which trended in 10 countries.

Earlier this year, XG made history when their hit track “GRL GVNG” topped the Hot Trending Songs chart, powered by Twitter, becoming the first Japanese artist to achieve this in the US. 

Authorities have since last month unveiled a raft of measures to kickstart sluggish consumption and address a prolonged and debilitating debt crisis in the country’s colossal property sector.

The S&P Global defines “emerging markets” as countries that have been or are transitioning toward middle- income levels, with good access to global capital markets, deepening domestic capital markets, and global economic relevance based on economic size, population and share in global trade.

The group’s groundbreaking year will continue with a performance at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The girls are set to make history as the first Japanese female act to secure the second headliner slot.

Moreover, their global momentum continues into 2025, with planned performances in Japan, Australia and a highly anticipated South American tour.
