MANILA, Philippines — Some P2.06 billion, set aside in the 2025 General Appropriations Act for the government’s Tulong Dunong program (TDP), is expected to benefit 137,000 college students nationwide.

Quezon City Rep. Marvin Rillo, vice chairperson of the House of Representatives’ higher and technical education committee, said that each program beneficiary would receive P15,000 in cash assistance this year.

In a statement on Sunday, Rillo, who is also a member of the House appropriations panel, said: “In the 2025 General Appropriations Law, Congress earmarked the sum of P2.06 billion for the TDP, which provides grantees with cash aid of P7,500 per semester, or P15,000 per academic year.”

“We are absolutely determined to keep up the annual funding for the TDP, which has helped to lessen the financial difficulties of students pursuing their college education,” Rillo pointed out.

The grand opening of the 60-hectare Domaine Evremond vineyard, situated on a quiet hillside in Kent, received the royal seal of approval, with the Duchess of Edinburgh Sophie in attendance.

The stimulus announced by the central bank come after warnings that more state support was needed to get the world’s second-largest economy back on track and hit growth targets for 2024.
